Forthcoming article

In 2023, my article “On the Margins of Harry's World: Partext and The Tales of Beedle the Bard" will appear in the journal Children's Literature. It discusses how J.K. Rowling’s The Tales of Beedle the Bard (2008) uses paratext to align Harry Potter’s Wizarding world with the nonmagical readers’ world. Doing so may aim at extending the novels’ theme of unity, but my essay argues that it complicates that theme by emphasizing readers’ status as marginalized from the magical realm.
