Conference presentation

I am participating in the first biennial conference of YASA, the Young Adult Studies Association in November 2020. My presentation at this digital conference establishes that, by invoking fairy tale motifs only to reject them, Dodie Smith's novel I Capture the Castle (1948)reinforces the nearly magical abilities of dress to change a woman’s status while simultaneously reminding its young audience of the emotional unoriginality of the fairy tale genre.
