"THE FAIRY RACE: ARTEMIS FOWL AND HIERARCHIES OF RACE AND GENDER"
In this essay, I argue that the progressive promise that the Artemis Fowl series holds out by including minority and non-heteronormative characters is undercut by the books' insistence on identifying its hero as straight, vampirically white, and hierarchically superior to all other characters.
